Waterford Writers' Weekend

Many thanks to everyone who participated in the Waterford Writers’ Weekend! To workshop providers, speakers, city council staff, organizers, venues and of course to our wonderfully enthusiastic audience, the committee wishes to pass on huge appreciation to all for helping to make the 2012 festival a great success.

Writers and performers who contributed this year included Oisín McGann, Lissa Oliver, Anne Holland, Alan Murphy, Jack O’Neill, Brian Keenan, Donal McIntyre, Peter Sirr, Mark Roper, Vanessa O’Loughlin, Niamh Dalton, Monica McInerney, Niamh Greene, Sarah Webb, Derek Flynn, Nicole Rourke and the Big Smoke Writing Factory, Martina Devlin, Jane Travers, Catherine Cleary, Martin Dwyer, Niamh O’Connor, Abigail Rieley, Judi Curtin, Arlene Hunt, Nuala Ni Chonchúir, Claire Hennessy, Dave Kenny, John Lonergan, Compass Writer’s Group, Sinéad Moriarty, Don Conroy, Hazel Gaynor and Tim Severin.

Winners of the Seán Dunne Young Writers Awards 2012 are Craig Gibson from Belfast his piece ‘Daisies’, Aoife Green from Donegal for her prose piece ‘Up and Over and Dean Hayes from Waterford City for his poem ‘You are an Actress’

Others awarded were Kyle Hutchison, Seán Duggan, Gavin Power and Desmond Ulamen from Scoil Lorcain, Sean's Dunne’s former school.
